With the rise in the use and abuse of opioids and death due to opioids, songwriter Neil Cabana and I are making an effort to raise awareness with our creative work.

The film/music video, “Destroying Angel,” is a scripted short made in hopes of helping addicts and their loved ones to find solutions, to inspire potential drug users to think twice before getting in deep, or to think twice before getting into drugs at all. We hope you enjoy our collaboration and might embrace the change we would like to bring.

I lost two female friends to addictions and soon after was inspired to write this piece with acclaimed filmmaker David Spaltro, casting him as the male lead. Neil’s song eerily matched the script which made the editing process a flow state exercise.

My Father’s House, a Journey of Love & Memory

My Father, Dr. Peter Reimann, walking towards the front door of ins home in New Jersey, circa 2011

This short film tells the story of my dad, Dr. Peter Reimann, and his trauma-related dementia, my older sister Kim, our devoted Korean housekeeper, Mrs. Man Cho Lee, and myself.  Dad’s life in suburban New Jersey serves as the backdrop for a universal story about dementia, death, and dying, albeit within the context of our unique personal experiences caring for him in the last three years of his life.

Alzheimer’s Disease and all the other dementias are devastating illnesses which inspired me to become an activist for the elderly. The more I learned about Dad’s condition, the millions of other families that are wrecked and bankrupted by the consequences they present, and what life is like living with dementia as a patient or family caregiver, the more I wanted to share with the world our experience.

My primary goal was to support other families so that they could know they are not alone and that there are ways to cope and places to go for help when the journey gets especially confusing and challenging.

I intend to make a feature-length documentary in my lifetime using the hundreds of hours of footage we shot from 2011 - 2014 to raise awareness more. This short film, distributed by Terra Nova Films, was created by request of Cure Alzheimer’s and its website of related movies.
